Pete Englund had been performing crew based trail work across 12 different states for 18 years before the IA DNR ended their AmeriCorps Trails program in 2017 and Legacy Trails was formed. He has set tool to trail on 4 National Scenic Trails throughout his career. Pete cut his teeth doing trail work on a portage crew in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness while in college. This soon turned into a passion for the work and the people who do it. He is a 9 time alum of the Student Conservation program and has led High School kids to retirees in performing all facets of trail work. He still trains work skills for the SCA and especially enjoys teaching trail layout and design. Hobbies include spending time with family, laser engraving swag, and small carpentry projects. He holds a Bachelors of Applied Science in Wilderness Management and Recreational Land Planning from Bemidji State University.
